The short answer

Is it right for your rack?

Shortlist the PDUMH15 for straightforward 120 V rack distribution when a local load display is useful and its 12 A continuous rating fits the project. Choose a different category if you need remote metering or outlet switching.

Fits: A 120 V rack needing local current visibility and thirteen NEMA 5-15R receptacles in a horizontal 1U unit.

Look elsewhere: Remote power cycling, network telemetry, 208/230 V distribution, or any requirement for battery backup.

Evidence: manufacturer documentationWe have not physically tested this model. Performance, acoustic behavior, battery condition, and real-world runtime are unverified. Recommendations are editorial inferences from linked specifications.

The tradeoffs

Reasons to shortlist

  • Local current readout makes load observation convenient.
  • Thirteen standard 5-15R receptacles in 1U.
  • Long 15 ft input cord may help rack placement.

Reasons to pause

  • No network telemetry or remote outlet power cycling.
  • A 15 A breaker is not a 15 A continuous output rating.
  • No battery backup, surge protection, or line-noise protection.

A meter is useful; it is not a network interface

The PDUMH15 gives you a local view of current draw. That can make a front-of-rack check easier than tracing every device’s individual rating. It does not establish a network management interface or remotely switchable outlets.

If the project requires an alert in monitoring software or the ability to restart an unresponsive server remotely, begin with monitored or switched PDU categories instead. Buying the wrong category is more consequential than choosing between similar outlet counts.

The rating that matters for continuous use

Eaton lists a 12 A continuous output rating at 120 V, corresponding to 1.44 kW, alongside a 15 A circuit breaker. Keep those values distinct. The breaker’s number is not a substitute for the manufacturer’s continuous rating.

Thirteen outlets do not create thirteen independent power budgets. The combined load must fit the PDU and the entire supply path. Do not infer allowable circuit loading or installation requirements from this article; use the exact installation documentation and qualified site assessment.

Count the connectors, then check their placement

The official specification table identifies thirteen NEMA 5-15R receptacles: one at the front and twelve at the rear. The input is a NEMA 5-15P on a 15 ft cord. Verify those connector types against the supply and each intended load.

Outlet spacing, rack clearance and bulky power adapters can reduce how many receptacles are practically usable. We have not physically fitted adapters or cables. Use the mechanical information and inspect the exact arrangement before relying on every outlet.

Where it belongs in a power plan

This PDU distributes power; it does not provide stored energy during an outage, surge protection or line-noise protection. If battery backup is required, select a compatible UPS and verify the manufacturer-approved distribution arrangement for the intended load.

For a purchase comparison, consider the required management tier first, then connector compatibility, continuous rating, mounting and cord reach. Check seller identity, warranty and supplied accessories. A local-metered unit can be the right tool when its feature boundary matches the actual task.

Check these before you order

  1. Match PDUMH15 exactly, including suffix and US electrical configuration.
  2. Confirm voltage, input plug, output receptacles and the complete load path.
  3. Verify rack depth, mounting accessories, weight and service clearance in the installation guide.
  4. Confirm included management features, software compatibility, warranty, seller, and replacement parts.
Installation context matters.Product specifications do not establish that equipment suits a particular facility. Follow manufacturer instructions and applicable site requirements; use qualified electrical assessment for supply and installation decisions.
